Does anyone else feel like nothing is "new" enough? I wish I didn't feel like I am stuck in the past. Everything feels exceptionally dated for some reason, like I'm missing out on the present. I want to feel like I'm at the forefront of life itself. I imagine something like being in a bustling city while shopping for merch of the newest, greatest thing, whatever it may be. I wish I could wake up and feel like I'm "in the now"; present with everyone else. Does anyone else feel this?

new things always occur locally. unequal development means most of the world is stuck in catching up with "the now" or changing in small iterations. capitalist dynamics make this especially egregious: for example high-end housing has advanced in materials, insulation and using pre-made, modular components, while in most 'muhrican 'burbs houses are built from frames of plywood or rarely literal cardboard, making them structurally vulnerable and extremely susceptible to moisture.

the point is the profit motive and a dearth of building regulations don't lead to increasingly efficient and advanced forms of housing for most people. they lead to finding ever more ingenious ways to cut corners. cyberpunk housing could only happen through regulations by a SEA-style corpocratic government, or you know a monopolistic zaibatsu-type organization like in the movies.

Aww I think maybe you’re not being your self so you feel like that because you don’t feel comfortable being brave and new and the beautiful flower you are? I think you can maybe even a little! But it’s hard to be an encouraging anonymous person
