I agree except for soda because soda is bad for you and tbh not even that good. Make the switch to sparkling water now!!!!

>>1035139 I imported japanese sencha once but I figured I got ripped off with a cheap product because it had such a strong bitter aftertaste.

>>1035230 Did you do the first brew properly? 70°c~ for 1 min is all you need, tranfer it to serving pot to not over extract em. Though if it cost more than say 7 usd for a month worth bag it's either scam or overly high grade for average drinker

>>1035244 This was a few years ago but I probably followed the instructions which says 80c for 2-3 min but I tried to shorten the brewing time to 1 min but it didn't help and I never transfered it to a serving pot. I read up about sencha just now and apparently sencha is easer to overbrew than other teas so I guess it could've been due to my sloppyness. They were 4 usd for 50 bags, 125g in total.

Nah, I'm gonna get a new batch and try to brew it correctly this time. Thanks for the input, homie.

>>1035249 glad to help another soul to try my all time favorite drink, Though I heard westerner take the taste of sencha's umami as fishy at first, could be an acquired taste, but good luck either way.

btw here's how I always do it
first brew: 70°c 1 min second: 80°c 1 min third: 90°c 1 min fourth: 100°c 1 min fifth and on: 100°c or more and doesn't bother to use serving pot anymore
usually 2 teaspoon last til 7th brew, more than that will just taste like boil water. If you wanna make ochazuke 3rd or 4th brew probably the best.
