Why do dreams happen?

I dream of maggots and postules of pus, ferris wheels adorned with bleak corpses and dripping oil, I dream of you and me embraced as the fire storm arrives, one final moment eye to eye before they boil and burn and turn to dust.

| Your brain consolidates and organizes information when you sleep for whatever reason. But your brain can't process visual information without asking your eye organs for help. Your lateral geniculate nucleus is sort of like the cpu that makes your eyes work, and the brain uses it. It's like a computer running without a monitor.
