The richest 1 percent grabbed nearly twice as much wealth as the rest of the world put together over the past two years

| The richest 1 percent grabbed nearly two-thirds of all new wealth worth $42 trillion created since 2020, almost twice as much money as the bottom 99 percent of the world’s population.

During the past decade, the richest 1 percent had captured around half of all new wealth.

| While ordinary people are making daily sacrifices on essentials like food, the super-rich have outdone even their wildest dreams. Just two years in, this decade is shaping up to be the best yet for billionaires —a roaring ‘20s boom for the world’s richest.

| During the pandemic and cost-of-living crisis years since 2020, $26 trillion (63 percent) of all new wealth was captured by the richest 1 percent, while $16 trillion (37 percent) went to the rest of the world put together.

A billionaire gained roughly $1.7 million for every $1 of new global wealth earned by a person in the bottom 90 percent. Billionaire fortunes have increased by $2.7 billion a day.

| Billionaire wealth surged in 2022 with rapidly rising food and energy profits. The report shows that 95 food and energy corporations have more than doubled their profits in 2022. They made $306 billion in windfall profits, and paid out $257 billion (84 percent) of that to rich shareholders.

Excess corporate profits have driven at least half of inflation in Australia, the US and the UK.

| At the same time, at least 1.7 billion workers now live in countries where inflation is outpacing wages, and over 820 million people —roughly one in ten people on Earth— are going hungry. Women and girls often eat least and last, and make up nearly 60 percent of the world’s hungry population. The World Bank says we are likely seeing the biggest increase in global inequality and poverty since WW2.

| Entire countries are facing bankruptcy, with the poorest countries now spending four times more repaying debts to rich creditors than on healthcare. Three-quarters of the world’s governments are planning austerity-driven public sector spending cuts —including on healthcare and education— by $7.8 trillion over the next five years.

Cyberpunk is real and it fucking sucks.

| Well, there is three ways to manage this. Cope. Became communist. Became anarchist. And you simply can't became a rich person.

Or, you know, tax them and use the money to build a better society for the rest of us.

| >>938478
Who will allow you to do this? It's not a bad idea, seriously, but nobody will let this happen. At least in democratic way.

| >>938484
I know it seems impossible, especially since the top 1% threatens to stop investing in countries that taxes them too much, essentially holding a countrys economy hostage. But the more we delay the more dependent on them we become, so it's cruicial that we act now.

Winfdall profit taxes, income taxes for the high earners, wealth taxes and a roof on how much more a CEO is allowed to make in comparison to the lowest earner within a company are all working solutions.

| And I believe democracy is the way to achieve this, as long as you don't live in an oligarchy or a corrupt country.

The wealth inequality is the second most popular topic where voters of all political sides are on agreement on (ignoring pro-fascist far-right nutcases ofc.)

You didn't gave me an answer to my question. Who will allow you to do so? Even if you became a big deal politic, you are gonna be threaten or bought by that 1%.
CEO's month pay is like 1$, in this way they don't pay taxes. And tecnically they use company money.
I don't think that the matter is in politic regime. Democracy or autoritarian, it doesn't matter if the power is in the hands of shitmen.

uhh...

| bruh

| the eternal solution is right wing socialism

| >>938496
go cope somewhere else, ruski nazi

| Hahaha, we don't need any bait to trigger our silly ukro nazis!

I'm beginning to think we're stupid. No, not the simpleton, they have no idea. I mean we, folks who should know better, we are VERY stupid.

| We need to fix this for innovation. For stronger public services. For happier and healthier societies. And to tackle the climate crisis, by investing in the solutions that counter the insane emissions of the very richest.

| The world Is fu##, next wars are gonna turn civil betwen those who have and those who we don't if something doesn't change soon, but the biggest problems are education and conformity. The ruling clases arent interest in reading history's books and we are happy has long as we have internet and food. My only advice its that we turn into dangerous autosuficient individuals hopping for a oportunity to turn this Situation upside down in the most durable way posible.
