Unfortunately, a lot a people care about trends on social media and they shape our society whether we like it or not. Companies change policy or content based on social media reactions, and governments are not immune either. Nothing exists in a vacuum, and the unfortunate situation is that a lot of people seem to look at social media as a cross section of the general population's opinions rather than as just a bunch of loud assholes shouting.

Sometimes, it can be gender euphoria.
Not all trans people want to "kill themselves" and most of those who do are either persecuted to it or have really hard cases of gender disphoria and aren't supported by their closed ones.

Being transgender doesn't mean you're changing your body to be as close as the prefered gender.
For example, a lot of trans men don't remove their tits, a lot of trans women don't even have tits.
Gender isnt about physical attributes, sex is.
The way man and woman are perceived is a social construct, by transitionning, you realign yourself with where you see yourself on said construct.
