Japan VIII: Stop mods
| Japanese street pictures give such a nostalgic feeling. There's just something about it that looks dreamy and human. The reason is if you look closely, there isn't any street parking, and the buildings tend to be close enough that you don't even feel like you're crossing the street the way you do in North America. This is what urban development centered on walkability is like. Americans would usually say reduction of vehicle capacity affects businesses, but we can see that's false.
| In fact, you see hardly any streets outside larger cities wider than two lanes. Despite that, traffic jams are a rare occurrence outside places like Nagoya. Not only that, but you don't ever see oversized cars like SUVs either. Minimizing the infrastructure needed to maintain, and the load on said infrastructure which causes wear and tear, while providing alternative means of transport, ended up freeing space for those who do own vehicles.
