It was so embarassing that not even Russian media could spin it- well, ok. They claim that the ammunition on the ship just randomly exploded and took the ship with it. Is that really less embarrassing than the Ukrainians hitting it with a Neptune missle and sinking it?
Hilarious all the same.

I dislike the duality in the medias portrayal of the russian military as being both "embarassing" with blunders and terrifying with perfect precision strikes. Keep it neutral

23,000 dead russian soldiers vs 2,500 to 3,000 dead Ukrainian soldiers btw.

>>853711 You have nothing more to say, typical anti-russian propagandist?
>>853715 With what information you started to thing in this way? In Russia, there was not even a general mobilization. And if Russian army is a bunch of "poorly trained cannon fodder", why then Ukraine didn't wone the war? And the data on losses is incorrect.

Russia and its supporters are downplaying their losses and Ukraine is downplaying their losses. So here these statements like "23,000 dead russian soldiers vs 2,500 to 3,000 dead Ukrainian soldiers btw" are not great.
And BTW, what is american - afghanistan losses count? Or other military counts where america involved.

>>853715 >23,000 dead russian soldiers vs 2,500 to 3,000 dead Ukrainian soldiers btw. Well, it's obvious this numbers are propaganda, which kinda conflicts the principles and values the ukrainians are supposed to stand for in this conflict. It's clear that russia attacked Ukraine, which is a violation of international law. We don't need propaganda stories about infant raping russian soldiers that die like flies to legitimize ukrainian resistance and condemn russia.

It's legitmate and very important to point out geopolitical and economical aspects in this conflict and trying to understand the russian perspective. Also criticism on western countries policy, especially their international law violations and on the ukrainian governments policies shouldn't be tabooed. The red line is when it only is done with the intention to justify russias attack. But please stop assuming this by default - at least as long it's not from russian government media.

>>853849 Nah, I'm also a western but I love Russian people, and their russian history, culture and traditions. However I'm against violence and the Russian attack against ukraine. I wish we can stop this war and Russia and Ukraine can recover from this.
And I know that I'm not alone in this peace position, heck, a lot of western people saw you russians as "the cool and tough guys" before this war. (And many of us still admire you)
I just want the war to stop. Peace.

>>853875 In Georgia in 2008 Russia was in the right. This was even recognized by many western countries. The georgian leader Saakashvili is a veeeery shady politician and totally unsuited as an antagonist for Pitler, holding up the Banners of Democracy and Liberty. Russias war on Ukraine and its President Zelenskyy are of an entirely different quality than what happened in Georgia in 2008.

>>853849 The "west" was very pro-putin long time. The only exception was other ex-soviet satelites, which are politically as rotten as russia, with a politicial landsacape dominated by oligarchs, corrupt conservatives, nationalists and right-extremists. Things changed when the old western europe didn't want to follow the US into international law violating wars based on lies, while many eastern european countries followed them, to gain support for their anti-russian nationalism.

In short: The soviet union broke up, and their ex members (including russia) became full capitalist. And nationalism and imperialism are the children of capitalism. Socially tamed and liberal/ open societies could only develop facing the competition with what the soviet union wanted to be (even if it never was). Without the soviet union the tamed beast was unleashed and exactly this is what people in ukraine have now to suffer from.

>>853973 I don't think calling them the 'children' to capitalism correct. Imperialism is what made first great civilizations, and nationalism is just tribalism in a larger scope.
It can be argued though, that without a body holding absolute power (ie, a king or a dictator), the larger aristocratic class can more easily be ambitious and extend their influence, and by extension the nation they inhabit, and proceed to exploit foreign lands. In the name of the nation of course.
