Russia, North America, most of Europe and probably most of East Asia and the rest of the developed world have these same laws. During a foregin invasion you are legally bound to defend your country.
| That doesn't mean you're forced to go into combat. It can also mean that you're forced to stay at your current job. By living in a society we both have rights and obligations, and defending ourselves from invasion is one such obligation.

While I strongly assume, the situation in russia is shitty for male pacifists, conscientious objectors and deserters, it reduces my sympathies for the ukrainian government drastically. Forcing people to fight or die in a battle which they don't want to take part is just inhumane. And since it's explicit against men, it's somehow sexist.
