True. Lots of deaths, even more infected people that need intensive care, but "it's okay". And foilhead supremacy, because "vaccines are controversial" and "cause automatism".

>>815893 I'm not per se against vaccination. But I would expect governments to make the recipe/composition much more transparent and accessible. I'd expect some kind of open source license for medicine, especially genetically modified stuff. Public money, public code (not only software but also mRNA), public property. This would also solve the issue of vaccine nationalism. Because, why should I take vaccine as long billion of people in less developed countries have no access to it?

>>816169 >I'm not per se against vaccination. Weird phrase to open with, but Ok...
So basically, you want the vaccines to be patent free? Big pharma have already been very transparent with how their vaccines work and what they do in your body. Anyone can study up on that on their own free will.
The fact that the profit motive is the overriding force shaping medical research has been devastating — particularly in a global pandemic, and I agree with you 100% that the patents should be abolished.
That Finnish patent free vaccine provides a striking case study of the many ways in which our current patent-based funding model has slowed down vaccine development, and how it currently hampers the possibility of conducting effective mass-inoculation campaigns.

>>816171 >Big pharma have already been very transparent with how their vaccines work and what they do in your body. Only the promise of being "very transparent" is not enough for institutions that only became big because they were stuffed with public money and massive law advantages. And "Removing patents" only makes sense if there are laws to ensure verification of the end product and that any further development and modification stays as transparent as the previous recipe/code.

Independent from knowing that anti-vaccination activists are esoterical hippies and/or conspiracy theorists (including far-right-extremists), I recommend to be also sceptical and careful about pro-vaccination. There's no doubt that there're also people that only want to take personal advantage out of the pandemic situation. The way how we manage things right now will have long-term consequences that'll last much longer than the pandemic itself - at least for all those who survive.

Now I know you're just pulling stuff out your ass. Off-patent vaccines and medication isn't a new concept. It's over a decade old already and it *does not* work the way you claim it does.
I loathe fake people like you. Thanks for wasting my time, asshole.

The difference being that most antivaxxers defend their "right" to behave like that. And I wouldn't care that much if it didn't add to the degradation of the understanding of science, as well.

>>816277 I'm living in Japan and most antivaxxers I've met are smart people who are just scared of the risks 5 or 10 years from now. It's also safe to debate the vaccine in news programs (ie they don't get censored like in western countries). Japan has almost 80% full vaccination rate which is quite high. So my point is vilifying antivaxxers might be the cause of low vaccinations in your country. Free and honest discussion is best

>>816289 Claiming that intentionally dishonest people who actively seek to spread disinformation are merely engaging in "honest discussion" is such a retarded statement that no intellectual individual would never ever utter.
Stopping the spread of harmful mis-information is not censorship. Only a dishonest individual would ever make that claim.

>>c124cf Then what are you even arguing for at this point? You want to stop people from dissenting but without actually doing it???? You're just blatantly lying. >>816224 So you think it is generally ok to expect people to trust political/economical elites blindly? People forgot that there are doubts and issues that go beyond healthcare. It's naive not to think there aren't people who see and use the pandemic as their opportunity. And those are not only those who oppose the measurements to fight pandemic for stupid reasons. E.g. I'm also concerned about the time after covid which is massively affected by how we deal with it.

Everyone should be free to have and voice their opinions, but this doesn't mean that everyone must listen. Never expect such special snowflake treatment. If people don't want to listen to you, or if you're *OBVIOUSLY* lying, or if you're seeking to spread harm, or if you're just very very ignorant, then the reality of it is that people won't care about what you have to say.
This is *not* censorship. It's common sense, so stop crying about it like some snowflake and grow up.

I would immediately agree for an enforced general vaccination, since I'm sure it would end this shit faster. But not under any circumstances. This whole vaccination thing could easily turn into something dystopical as it already has regarding information technology, where giving up your privacy and independence has become a commonly accepted norm. The only way I see is a strict separation from commercial particular interests and research/development, that directly affects everyone.

This would imply 100% transparency regarding the composition of the end product. The same applies for genetically modified food. As soon a good relies on massive public inventions and will affects almost everyone, it should be self-evident that all information about it should be public accessible and not hidden and protected by private property laws. Good news in this case: https://www.the-scientist.com/news-opinion/scientists-reverse-engineer-mrna-sequence-of-moderna-vaccine-68640

>>816371 English isn't my mother tongue. What I tried to say is that I would agree for an enforced general vaccination, but only under certain conditions, mainly making the mRNA sequence (and all other information regarding the vaccine) public. I don't like the idea forcing people to use proprietary code, no matter if it's on their cellphone, their computer or in their body.
