| Thank God

| Please kill this board and just have it accessible from /archive/

| News is dead long live /u/

| Nah, /new/ needs to stay alive as a sort of emergency containment zone just because it is not in use does not mean it is useful.

| /u/ is pretty lively right now

Dumb

| >>767572 Does the containment board concept even work? 4chans pol is a great example of how shit it went.

Should go back to 2000 forums no politics rules.

| >>767621
Who decides what's political and what's not? Beside that "no politics rules" is a political statement itself.

Tard

| >>135aa9 it is but in a context of a video game board filled with horny people and poors it just means having a space without those types of antagonisms.

They might crop up as a tangent here and there but not as a main course.

Not in my experience. Usually it just attracts or encourages the conversation.

In our case, there were a couple times where certain individuals here started posting board-flavored one sided "political" discussions in other boards, much to the anger of other users. They stopped at the threat of exterminatus, though.

But that kind of defeated the concept of /news/ "containing" anything. Only active moderation can hold back the grim darkness of /pol/.

| >>767621 on one hand, you tend not to see flame on other boards very often. on the other, when you do, it's a multi-thread argument that started on /new/.
I don't think it "contains" threads or individuals like one might think a containment board should. it's more that the people who cause a problem tend to reply a lot and bait a lot of replies, and this board is kinda like a buffer for them to hang out in before they bring it to /u/.
