A Mexican town is running so low on water that the locals are using Coca-cola as an alternative.
In the town, situated next to a Coca-Cola plant which is draining the local water supply, the sugary concoction is not only drunk but used in religious ceremonies and even as a currency.
Meanwhile obesity and diabetes is soaring among the local residents and Coca-cola accept no responsibility for creating a public health crisis.

Cristobal de las Casas, in the Mexican state of Chiapas, has for years been caught between an inept local government and a multinational corporation which is draining its local water supply in a case of crony capitalism at its worst.

>>469573 Boycotts never changed anything. They are not more but symbolic. It needs laws to prohibit such destructive business practices. In fact big companies benefit much if people believe that they have to change their consume behaviour to change things. So the big shots are out of responsibility and can gain even more profit by offering a small segment of green- and white-washed products. In fact it stagnates between 10-20% as most people can't effort it.
