Scientists found out that PGP encryption can be cracked, if a recievers mail client parses and shows html and loads external ressources like images. What basically is a missconfiguration or implementation of mail-clients is now branded as a major security issue of PGP which should be literally "unistalled/deactivated". It doesn't make any sense, because why should somone who configured and uses PGP not be able to simply turn on text-only mode and autodownload in his mail-client?

Because people are lazy. Very few people ever change the defaults and if malware is designed such as to function with default settings of something, there is a high probability it will succeed spreading into the population.

I can't see anyone who takes the time to set up PGP to begin with to make such a simple blunder. Just setting up PGP isn't a task for the lazy to begin with.

>>283252 I helped pretty much people configuring and using PGP and also free software. People are not that lazy/dumb as companys and governments want to have them. People have to learn that there are a couple of things they should not let control by others. Especially those who earn a lot of money in privacy critical jobs like doctors and advocates.
