A 49-year-old woman was hit by a car and killed as she crossed the street in Tempe, Arizona.

There was a "human monitor" behind the wheel. I don't feel its right for people to be bashing driverless cars so hard on this one. As she was jaywalking, its possible a human driver would have been even MORE likely to hit her. Not saying the tech is safe or ready, just that its a bad example to judge/condemn it on.

Getting self driving cars to work will take a while. I'd say countries like Japan will benefit the most from them since they want to help the elderly simply get by to places like supermarkets or parks.
