These were the three worst Presidents the USA ever had. One should think people would have learned their lessons. But no, instead they choose to have a monstrosity, surpassing those three failures by unifing their worst traits himself: Donald fcking Trump.
Everyone who thought "stupid americans" was a meme, knows better now.

McCarthy actually wasn't US president, but his (pretty negative) political heritage was bigger than the lame naive idiot Truman.
Surprisingly it was Eisenhower, a republican, who ended McCarthys era. He was definitively one of the better presidents and a proof that republicans aren't (at least weren't) automatically bad and democrats generally good.

At his time individual traffic was commonly seen as a liberation for people. Especially outside the urban areas in a large and resource rich country like the US it still is. Back then the geopolitical landscape was different and the knowledge of climate change caused by burning fossil resources wasn't that big back then (the most responsible leading political powers in the world still don't really care today).

In many fields it makes sense to judge politics and politicians of the past by the circumstances at their time.
There are things which are universally/timeless bad such as slavery or genocide. There are also things that are universally good like building public infrastructure, affordable public education and healthcare, strenghten civil rights, etc.
And there are things that depend heavily on the circumstances.
