The study, which shares the info about 70 different cases that appear to be murders that were ruled as suicides. Things like wounds that have nothing to do with the "official" cause of death. The very first one is of a man who was ruled as a suicide from drug overdose, but he had a slashed neck. This JULIAN group went through all the details of the cases to find out why the conclusion didn't match the evidence.

Crime scenes left unsecured, witnesses uninterviewed for days, cause of death determinations entered before investigators have spoken to anyone in the house.
In one case, the first case JULIAN says it helped solve, authorities ruled the death a suicide within 40 minutes of arriving on the scene. “They didn’t interview the people who were in the house that night until four days later,” Jefferson said. “So they had four whole days to get their story together.”

I think all jails should have cameras on all the time everywhere which store footage for at least a week for the death on custody ones. I watched the video of the black crowd beating on the Texas black trans lady (found it from daily mail.) the pdf doesn’t mention that supposedly she did a hit and run first which gave the excuse for a beating and just said ‘after a minor traffic accident.’ It also said less than 84% of departments report hate crimes which I don’t think is terrible.

I was hoping for some cool ones where the pdf authors found the neck broken in the wrong places and such and tracked down the people who did it. It seemed like most of them were suspicious but not proven to have a certain perpetuator or cover up. Very sad situation.
