he saw that a lot of people were coming in and yet there wasn't much of a profit, so he decided to raise the price of a room (tarrifs, now h1b) since for him it's a supply-and-demand issue.

Those guests are mostly his own voters he's killing though. The red states are economonically a burden to the blue states and there are talks about blue states banding together to withhold aid to red states in the future because of how destructive these red states have started to act.

And regarding "DOGE" and "saving" public money, this was even officially not the main intention. The main motivation was a political cleanse of public institutions from what Trumpists believe to be "marxists".
The actual "savings" are ridiculous compared to the politically motivated additional expanses the trump administration makes - especially for military and "security" (first of all for his clan and their minions)
