Cyberpunk has always been part of trans culture. Transhumanism and body moding/bio hacking are huge parts of the trans experience. Cyberpunk stories often features queer allegories, such as the othering and attempts to "clock" and punish replicants in blade runner, to the transgender allegories of the matrix, and even the multiple trans, non-binary, and trans-coded characters in va11halla itself. It's a staple of the genre, the genre lends itself to talking about it. Deal with it.

tbh i always find it incredibly weird how this app is 95% transgurls and allies and then like 5% the most virulently anti everything ppl lmao but at least they get booted or bored soon enough when their threads and posts get deleted

>>827056 I really wonder where they come from. It seems hard to believe that they actually find this place via, you know, VA-11 Hall-A, a game where more than half the characters are canonically LGBT+.
And why do they continue to hang around here, when it's full of trans people and discussion of trans stuff? Do they just enjoy being upset?

>>827081 They're here for reactions. That's trolling 101. They revel in the fact that their words can strongly affect others. Every time you feed a reaction to a troll, they survive for a while longer. The only thing they seek is amusement and attention. All you can do is feed them or ignore them.

I think cyberpunk has already been appropriated and defanged of any of it's transgressive attitude. At this point its just an aesthetic choice not an identifier.
If only nirvana was out and sukeban had no troubles then maybe lol

I would be all for transanything if the tech and/or medicine were on the level where it would make modding/biohacking/transitioning possible, but we're not quite there yet and with how things are, even if I'm not against the idea itself, in practice it just doesn't really work out as well as it perhaps should.

TL;DR I guess: I wouldn't call myself transphobic (more like trans-not-really-understanding tbh) if we were already cyberpunk

I find it hard to really be mad at trans and the whole ordeal when it doesn't affect my life negatively in any way shape or form. To anyone who's going through it best of luck to you *thumb up emoji*.

What a loaf of bs. Transhumanism was there way before transsexuality. You cant just say it's part of "transculture" just because the words match lol

Very, very true. I wouldn't even say it's a hot take. I mean, punk culture is an inherently accepting and progressive culture in which trans and all other LGBTQ+ people and minorities in general are a huge part of. Their whole thing is anti-establishment, fuck bigots, fight the system. The cyberpunk genre is literally just "what if punk culture combined with fancy tech". That's how it was invented, and all the iconic literature and other cyberpunk media is very trans positive.

>>827056>>827090 If you pay attention you'll notice that most of the troll posts is just one guy samefagging.

>>827173 And what about the 3 highly similarly worded tranny threads that just suddenly popped up out of nowhere? See it's always samefags when people are sick of your shit, and alwasy "ah there's just a lot of trannies there" when it's you pushing your BS. Calling samefag on everyone who's tired of you is an utter cope move, so just deal with it.

>>827167 hard agree. The punk influence, plus all the themes of bodies being changeable, shifting identity and all that, is relatable to many trans people. To say that cyberpunk is not generally very accepting of trans and other queer people is basically admitting that either you have seen almost no cyberpunk media, or that you are too dense to notice the trans allegories (and sometimes not even allegory, literally there in the text). People just want to ignore it for pretty neon

>>827178 Yeah. I didn't mention those aspects since you worded it really well earlier, but that is very much a big thing. Gender, bodies and really all sorts of identities in cyberpunk are, well, usually not on a binary. It's customisable, it's fluid sort of, it's way more about the actual persons identity than however they were born. And my god, the metaphors are everywhere. Certain people really do try their damn hardest to ignore all of that though, don't they?

>>827171 dude YOU are the one who has no idea LMFAO that is cyberpunk to a tee congrats on being some babby smoothbrain that thinks it has to be gritty neon blade runner shit or something and not literally "punk in the cyber age"
keep trying bb ur like a pet troll its kinda cute now

>>827182 digital* technology but yeah
technology is the knowledge and use of manufactured/repurposed items and tools. as long as we have been able to parse concepts as humans we've had access to these things. I find it interesting bcus i feel like weve only articulated these concepts recently whereas they just existed as a matter of fact in antiquity (where concepts like androgyny and hermaphroditism arise from)

Reasonable take: you cannot call yourself a cyberpunk if you fall in line with any corporate-sponsored ideologue-profiteering.

>>827219 i agree. More often than not, the rich and powerful benefit from the subjugation of it's people, an ostracized social class is beneficial for keeping power and gaining wealth, and this is one of the reasons transphobia is so rampant. Even outside of any other frame of morality, transphobic rhetoric more often than not is to the benefit of the ruling class, at the expense of the people, and therefore cannot be punk
