I hate using irc networks like Mibbit but its okay, its just not comfy. How do you feel about them not using discord

I find IRC infinitely more comfy than using discord. You have to use a real client and not a web page though. I can skin it how I like and it fits cleanly into my workflow so I can flip between it and whatever I'm focusing on. All these modern services forcing you to use their garbage apps on their proprietary servers are the total opposite of comfy

I prefer IRC over Discord, because for example I don't need to have a web page opened, Discord is bloated, I don't like this idea with servers and overall configuration was weird for me.

Are there any irc apps? My laptop is a toaster that barely opens Firefox

>>357114 There are many clients, and some are quite lightweight. xChat is preferred by many people, but I wouldn't say it is the lightest. On Plasma desktop you have Konversation by default, I tried it yesterday and it was just good enough.
