Urusei Yatsura Remake

| A teaser for the remake just dropped a couple of days ago, what do you think? I personally liked the animation and the VAs

| Never saw the original, so I’m excited for this reboot. I really enjoy rumiko takahashi’s work, so it’s nice to see a classic get an update. Ranma 1/2 was one of the first manga I ever read as a kid.

| I dig what they did with her hair. For a reboot something tells me it might be alright.

| I've been meaning to get into the original series for quite a long while now, but that reboot looks sooo good!

| Just started watching the original because I want to be an annoying asshole about having seen the original when the remake comes out. Very fun so far. There's a lot of aspects I'm intrigued to see how they'll handle in the remake.

There's a 24/7 Urusei Yatsura stream if you want to hang out and watch some random episodes with us. https://cytu.be/r/storytimecinema

| It looks weirdly dated and like a modern anime at the same time. The dissonance is really killing it, I wish they'd updated the character designs or kept the old style or something.

New Lum's "darling" doesn't hold a candle ot Old Lum's. Unfortunate.

| >>861693 i completely disagree, the look of it being dated and modern is its strenght and makes it more interesting to look at. What do u mean tho with updated character designs, do they not look updated to you in the reboot?

| As a long time fan, the trailer looked good. Interested in how the story plays out.

>do they not look updated to you in the reboot?
Not really, they're just drawing the same design in a new style. Which means it all looks like it's still stuck in the 80s, i.e. hair styles, uniforms, ect., but is drawn like a 2020 anime, which looks weird.

| I for one love that old 70s style. Too bad they're not drawing the overexaggerated slapstick facial expressions.

| Hmmm

| As someone who really lamented the lack of older time eras represented in current anime, I say keep the dated designs. It's 1000% part of the charm and kids today need to enjoy the past too.

| the reboot reminded me i need to get the original of my watchlist, looking forward to it
