By Lotus War do you mean Records of Lodoss War? I've heard of that but was afraid it might be too old-school

| Berserk. But I wouldn't call the plot nonsense. It's plays in a west-european (later also persian/indian) high/late-medieval setting and contains magic and demons. It's very well drawn, very gory, violent, shows nudity and sex and it's one of the few mangas I read because the anime-adaptations suck.
