I've been struggling to find any romance/sol anime with more mature characters. Something maybe set in an office or main characters that now have jobs and stuff. Am i just getting too old for anime?

The only two shows I've watched that fits this descriptions are Nana and a show called Honey and Clover. I rewatched a couple of episode of Nana recently and it's still great. There's also a live-action movie from 2005.

There's also The Great Passage but it's a movie so I'm not sure it's what you asked for.

Never mind, there's a Great Passage anime series too. I haven't watched it myself but I've heard good things.

I Can't Understand What My Husband is Saying (short little romcom, not exactly about working) Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san (somewhat surreal retellings of the creator's actual experiences working at a bookstore) My New Boss is Goofy (premise explained in title. perhaps not for everyone, but those that it is for will love it) Maison Ikkoku (classic for a reason. not necessarily about working until later in the story, but it is mostly adults having a good time from the start)

I should mention I haven't watched these in a while (besides Goofy Boss), so I can't vouch for how well they hold up. I do remember them all being pretty enjoyable though.

Ganbare, Douki-chan is mostly composed of stills and is pretty neat (but also full of fanservice if you don't like that) I enjoyed Yuuutsu-kun to Succubus-san although it's more comedy-focused and not really romance at all (also seems like it got dropped by the creator) Chichi to Hige-Gorilla to Watashi is super cute, very lowkey slice of life with some romance
