Long phone, its super uncomfortable put it into pocket. Smartwatch, having one more distraction in life while bringing nothing new, mosts features are already there on a regular phone.

Notches and camera holes, what's the point of having more screen if the content is hidden behind it. I'd rather have a small bezel, it makes accidental touches on the edge of the screen less common and the space can be used for stereo speakers

I have Xperia 10 II and after a time i can say that is long phone really nice for reading text.. About smartwatches i somehow agree, but some people can't use phones in work.. but paradoxically they are allowed to use smartwatches.. also they can read text when they are busy.. also they are kind of fitness tool.. But it's really specific and i have no usage for it >>900929 i agree, but some people hate frames idk why, they would die from my previous XZ Premium maybe xd

About trends what i don't understand is multiple of them. probably monopoly of chinese phones, online subscribtion almost for everything since PS/Xbox/Nintendo to Youtube Premium, Hype over GPUs like RTX 3/4k over that Sony confirmed longer support for PS4 and developers will try support Steam Deck. Popularity of ios, Game publishers abandonding games from old consoles.. making a lot sequels of series every year instead life-service model, sw updates before proper test etc.

People put Furbos in their bedroom to watch their pets when they're a work. A camera in their BEDROOM.
People still use Amazon despite the damage it does to economies, workers, and environment

>>901017 its reminding me that my family now use webcam in room where sleep grandpa for 24/7.. It's not from Amazon, but some other company what specialise in CCTV, but it can be probably considered strange from same reasons i guess.. But technologically it's makes sense, just it's probably about ethical side. He is aware about it and he said that it's good. But he act little bit as child now.. So this kind of acceptance is probably about naivity.. But he can't care about yourself

About chinese phones, Price towers over privacy and ideology. I live in a place in which people dislike chinese products because of their questionable quality, and also the political reasons. But most people still use chinese phone because you need to pay 30%-50% more for the other brand equivalent (samsung for example)

>>901034 about prices i know, just i'm thinking if brands from other countries aren't able to make similar kind of prices

cloud storage and services. why would anyone even trust some shitty service not hosted by them?

Feels like a minor gripe comparatively, but I despite rounded windows. They waste space by design. Curves are an impossible goal, zoom in far enough and they get messy. Corners will always align with the pixels on the screen, they are perfect. Sometimes the simple, easy, obvious design, is the best. I'm not a toddler, I'm not going to bump my head, give me sharp corners.

I just don't get adding "AI" to everything, including phones. It doesn't provide any benefits except to the marketers. IDK why *anyone* would be happy with that.

Another thing I don't understand is why name everything pro, how is a PS4 pro or a pair of airpods pro useful in a professional environment?
They use "Pro" because they've used silver, gold, platinum, Xtreme, etc so much that they're meaningless. They'll drop Pro for something else in a few years. It'll probably be something stupid like Plaid.
Oh wait...

>>901437 who would steal a fucking server? and who cares about thieves when corporations can view all your personal data whenever they want
>>901520 yeah, but we're talking about trends, and encryption isn't one. in fact, the trend is seamlessness of cloud sync, so you don't even get an opportunity to encrypt the data. also you can't encrypt things like "shared clipboard/notifications/etc" that give all your personal data to micrococksoft

>>901712 there existed decent corona pro memes xd but i wasn't thinking about it so much.. In past there was a lot models tagged by generic model number, and they could look totally differently Nokia, Sony Erricson, Siemens, Motorola etc.. Later when all phones looked pretty like same, it was somehow changed at same time also marketing. Now is marketing made as "Story" and high role in Brands (which is old of course).. I don't understand why pro, marketing can be weird and bizarre
Post number #901818, ID: 092184

but now we don't have Sony Erricson W595, but Sony Xperia 1 IV, now we don't have only PS4 Slim but also powerful PS4 which can target on people what want ultra-best graphic experience. Microsoft made Xbox Series X, them marketing don't want use model numbers, but want being "only Xbox", small reboot xd Series X is probably variation for "PS1 Pro", but people started make Xbox SeX memes xd But now everyone know that Pro is automatically better than if it was only number..

And is probably making better orientation than if is model tagged as Samsung Galaxy Note 9.. But some devices would definitely deserve better name xd

>>901768 if is server unencrypted, there can be valuable data to steal. I can imagine that datacenter robbery can be in some cases more profitable than bank robbery xd I don't think that big tech companies steal anything from your data and is making only advertisments based on it. But probably they have these things even you don't upload them, if you are having account on FB or you are using Google daily.

>>901824 but you can encrypt it. that's the whole point - it only depends on you.
yeah, they don't steal your data - they store it. until someone who works there decides to view it. or a data leak happens. and that's really common in my country btw

>>901898 This. Why do you need a smart fridge in the first place and why the fuck must it run Windows and why must it be always online?
In theory I can accept something like a smart-TV because it makes sense to have all those functionalities built into the TV itself, but in reality they're data-collecting machines and should be avoided.

Aside from IOT, one thing I cannot stand is modern minimalism in tech design, where instead of minimalism being a practical and aesthetically pleasing solution that encompasses only what you need, it has turn into a competition of removing features for aesthetic purposes, negating any actual "minimalism"

Bluetooth headphones. I get that the cable can get in the way sometimes, and that the cable can break (headphones without detachable cables suck). But why the hell would anyone want to bring around another device that needs charging constantly, sounds bad if you don't get one with the higher end protocols, introduces potential for connectivity issues and lag, and is easy to lose (airpods specifically). Was the cable really *that* bad?
