how many more years does an i7-4790 have before its irrelevancy?

it works fine for my everyday use and media creation work at the moment, but how soon might it be before I'll be forced to upgrade to a new processor?

I mean irrelevance is a long time, you're probably going to want an upgrade before that
If you're doing media creation, like encoding and stuff a processer with more cores would likely help, less down time is more creative time and all that

If you don't actually use any CPU intense tasks then you're probably fine for idk 5-10 years before browsing the web and watching video feels sluggish I'd guess assuming it's fine right now

As long as you watch your temps and make sure it has some good thermal paste, it should last at least another 5 years depending on what you're using it for. I would be more concerned about your motherboard kicking the bucket first though, espeicially if you've OC'd your cpu.
