Use this thread to ask, suggest, or discuss the botnet, and it's encroaching upon the internet.
This includes open-source alternatives, security and privacy measures, and pretty much anything used in resistance or against the botnet.
For newheads, THE botnet refers to the part of the internet in which large corporations harvest data and spy on users. Meta, Alphabet, Microsoft, etc.

As an addition, large corporations spy on users by placing data harvesting bots in their software or networks hence botnet (adding on to clear things up).

Everyone in the developed world is tracked in some capacity, but never actively. Just don't do anything that'll piss off any major powers and you should be fine. It's been proven time and time again that major intelligence agencies are blatantly incompetent, so I don't really worry about it too much nowadays. The capacity is there, but the majority of it is probably either unexploited or useless in the modern era.
