So recently there have been more and more breakthroughs in virtual reality tech and also brain impulse tech. So when full dive tech happening?

If by full dive you mean full body tracking on a treadmill of sort, then about a decade (for accessible prices). If you meant full on disconnecting your body SAO/Code Lyoko/Matrix style, keep dreaming cuz it's likely not gonna happen this century.
Or well, I don't think so, but a breakthrough could prove me wrong.

>>813372 Not in this century?? Are you out of your mind? Have you seen how fast brain-computer interfaces have been developing recently?
In my personal opinion we'll have a proper full dive around the 2040-2050s

CBI's are accelerating a lot quicker than we thought- we might end up with cyberware ala Neuromancer by the 2050's, as predicted.
Hopefully the world won't be just as crappy, though.

The tech needed to have a proper full-dive experience (with all five senses being felt in-game) is certainly achievable within the next century. But it'd need to be physically invasive, so you'll have to wait for the legalities and moral arguments of such procedures to be sorted.

If some researchers came forward and said "we developed a device that reroutes key signals from your brain and interprets them for technological use", I'd be impressed but not surprised. If they got it into a situation where it's safe and legal within two decades of said invention, then I'd be surprised.

>>814553 Ahh, now that you mention it, the moral issues would be severe. I can imagine the debates that would arise.

Basically keep wait about BCI development and watch things like Neuralink

>>814581 yeah,at that point you can literally read someone's mind. Which has some ethical implications. That being said.... >>814553 ,why not go somewhere without those big tough laws and legalities stepping in the way? I am sure my back alley fully immersive brain simulation to escape reality will be totally ethical and safe from the comfort of a unknown backwater of some 3rd world country. Like West Virginia or Idaho or somewhere very nice and safe.

I'm sure some g/u/rls in /d/ already have full dive technology...

I love how people want to put chips in their brain, while we can't even stop malwares and privacy-invasive companies from doing whatever they want even though the problem has been known for decades. Mindless technological breakthrough for mindless consumers who have no clue about what it means.

>>816257 Well, I'll just that out of the two components, the technological one might not be the missing one...

>>d2c7ca How many times have you been told to take danger/u/ a little less seriously? Like, I know you claim to be part of the community because you've been shitposting here for a long time, but you'll never truly be part of the community if you're the only one who don't get it.
Like, we're talking about sci fi-tech that won't be available for another 100 years or so. Obviously we're not being 100% serious about it.

Trying to put people down and act like you're smarter than everyone when you're the only one who don't get it, is such a luminous and old coping strategy that has been known for decades.
You're not fooling anyone, but that's not the point of a cope anyway, am I right? As long as you yourself get to feel like you're better than everyone then it all works out, am I right?
Seriously though, chill a bit and you'll be less grumpy.

I dunno g/u/rls... I bet big crypto that by 2030, maybe 2040, an AI to surpass human intelligence will emerge and either fuck us in the ass or give us cool shit like full dive. Probably both. It will all happen in the blink of an eye. Try to stay alive until then, kay?

>>816388 People always talk about AI thinking something along the lines of skynet/terminator, the reality so far though is that AI is still, after many years of development and research, more stupid than a retarded child

>>816458 On a consumer level, it's essentially in it's infancy, so, yeah, no arguments there. Give it time, anon. You'll see. Although, I will say that this retarded-child-level AI is exceptionally gifted at synthesizing smut. Looooord, the levels of degeneracy you can reach with it is absurd

>>816459 smut? What does smut mean? Also, can we have degenerate AIs already?

>>816483 Smut as in erotica. My friend, there is a wonderful world full of lewd GPT adventures waiting for you. Many options to choose from like NovelAI or HoloAI (rip AIDungeon). There's even a GPT-Neo instance you can locally host if you have a good gpu.

>>816337 I love how there's a whole "samefag" conspiracy whenever more than one person disagrees with you. And saying that we're talking about technology that won't be available in a long time, while we are currently building the basis for that technology, is both absurd and irresponsible. So stop chilling and pretending your ideals and expectations are enough to justify not caring about reality.
