Can't decide what to do.

| Back in 2015 I built a fairly high-end PC for its time. i5 6600k (6700k wasn't better for ingame, only streaming etc), a high quality 980Ti that matches a 6GB 1070 in performance, and all the other bells and whistles.

I ran the system with a 1440p monitor and it was great but I had some regrets. First of all, Youtube was cancer because of how blurry 1080p upscaling is, and the system was struggling to keep 60 fps with some high intensity games like maxed Witcher 3 and no doubt

| Cyberpunk 2077 when it comes out.

A few weeks ago I sold the system and now I'm planning for another.

I can't decide if I should just build a similar performance PC but aim for 1080p for YouTube and better performance with future titles, Ryzen with a RTX 2060 would be pretty cheap today.

But the perfectionist in me keeps arguing to stick with 1440p and invest as much as I did in 2015, get a 2070S or maybe even a 2080.

| The problem I have with deciding is that I felt like my previous system was overkill for 1080p which is why I went for 1440p but then it wasn't really good enough for some games, and now that I'm trying to tackle that issue I'm once again feeling like it'd be overkill for 1080p.

| You could get 4k which can be divided into 1080 (2x) shouldn't have the same issue you did with 1440

1080 on 1440 looks blurry because it's 1/3 larger which you can't do when you have to work with pixels

| Personally I have 2 1440p monitors, and don't notice the blurry video but I usually watch YouTube in a window and not full screen

| >>839aaf 4k is definitely out of the question, pricey monitors and I'd have the same issues with the newest titles as I did back then, I really don't like the idea of compromising settings for a stable framerate

I'm mainly wondering if the new available parts make 1440p the ideal choice, as in any current and future titles would be playable with a high framerate on high settings

Maybe I'm overthinking it and Ryzen with a 2060 isn't overkill for 1080p?

| I was saying 4k as a compromise because you could run 1080 with no quality loss on 1440, you need to drop to 720 for no quality loss

Imo if you're going to get 1080 get a 1660 ti unless you plan on like 144hz monitor

| And it depends on how far "future" titles go, imo "future proofing" isn't a great choice because the higher end up go the more it costs but if you want a few years that same performance level costs way less, ex gtx 980ti is roughly equal to a 2060 today at half the cost
