Windows 10 privacy and security, how?

| What steps do you make to lock down Windows 10 during installation and post-install to maximize security and minimize data collection?

I'm forced to use Windows at work. Have pity.

3 Easy steps:
Install Virtualbox.
Install GNU/Linux or a BSD on it.
Run it in fullscreen.
Done.

Install Windows 7. Install SP1 immidiately after, and then disable updates altogether, also unplug Ehthernet to make sure the "telemetry" updates don't have a chance to install.
If HAVE TO specifically use Win 10, install Enterprise LTSB 2015, then configure and run this: https://github.com/Disassembler0/Win10-Initial-Setup-Script
It won't make 10 secure and private, but it's something.

Thanks this is more like it

| Run windows 10 in an offline VM. Remote control the computer running the VM with a Linux desktop.

| Every single one of the answers here are either trolling or just plain retarded. Didn't expect much from /tech/ to be honest...

| Stop streaming/storing child porn on your windows pc, do it on your linux PC.

| You can't just get rid of the Windows 10 botnet, you could run the Windows vm in your os in fullscreen and nobody would suspect a thing.

It looks like you weren't told to specifically use Windows 10, so you could use Windows 7/Windows 8.1 + Classic Shell just fine

| OP here
>>411325 no, you still have to lock down the host OS
>>411331 this script thingie looks really promising, thanks
>>411391 what can i say, too expensive, too complicated, will probably be a nightmare in production, probably not worth the marginal gains in security, will likely have lots of overhead, seems like a bad idea
>>411498 ikr except for the initial setup script guy
>>411522 no it has to be win10

| Really? no one?

Look for another job. Beeing forced to work with windows is like beeing forced to drive screws with a hammer or drive nails with a screwdriver. It may work, but it's stupid.

Honestly this is the true solution. I had to work as a web dev for 2 years and while our boss was very skilled in IT Business, he had little technical knowledge. Naturally he was utterly confused as to why I wanted to install a different OS onto my dev machine. Bosses just want things to work. Then we also locked ourselves into proprietary shitware so it was more or less hopeless. If the way they want it to work is not Free Software, go work for someone else.
