I need a second monitor and I haven't bought one before. What should I look into? My budget is 100$ I'm willing to spend more if it's really worth it, but I dunno.

If you need 27" or above then buy only something with 2k/4k resolution. FullHD has visible grain unfortunately at that size.
For anything below 27 FullHD is fine.
IPS is goated. The more Hz the better but you need to match you primary monitor for the same usage experience.
I think that's it, really.

Also, the technology is pretty streamlined at this point so no need to pay for a brand premium. Most of the monitors are pretty reliable I would say. I have AOC as a second monitor it is does its job well.

my main monitor is 165hz so I won't have issues there. I was considering a 27" 2k 120hz ips monitor, but most of the available ones are either 1080p or 75hz and it's annoying. Well, unless I go above 150$ and I don't think I'm gonna do that
I might just stick to 24" and call it good. Thanks for the advice!

I went to the thrift store with my laptop, a power cable, and an HDMI cable to test before buying!
