English is actually a goated choice. I think next after that for discussing niche internet culture is Russian. I’m too much of a hipster/contrarian to learn Japanese/Chinese tho maybe it’s good.

This is the only reasonable thing after English statistically, but idk if you can really do anything with Chinese. It’s the Chinese century among Chinese people, they don’t need gwailos

| These universal/basic things you have to understand once:
- Lambda calculus
- Universal Grammar
- International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA)
These things you have to learn permanently/excessively/stupidly:
- Alphabets
- Vocabulary (Tons of it)
- Idioms
| It may be helpful to gain basic knowledge about language families and relationships and make priorities (e.g. the amount of speakers they have). There's no point in first learning all germanic or bantu dialects and then suddenly start with a latin or semitic language.
You may also have a look at artificial universal languages like Esperanto or Lojban and most important: Mathematics.
And maybe Pidgin/Kreol languages could help as a learning bridge between two different languages...
| Regarding tools I recommend "Anki" for vocabulary training. It's (F)OSS and available for different platforms.
