| It's really not a ton of mathematics, I think high-school level knowledge of differentiation, chain rule, matrix multiplications should be enough to learn how neural networks work. For diffusion models in particular knowledge of probability and statistics (especially MCMC) would be helpful to understand the motivation behind the calculations.
| The word you'll want to Google is neutral network and maybe deep learning, buzzwords pre "ai" and usually has more to do with how they work as opposed to claiming they've already solved world hunger
