Usecases for a personal website?

| I often see ppl LARP online about how is it cool and everybody should own one to revive "The Old Good Free Web™", but honestly I just don't see much of a point in owning one. Like, what's the purpose? People just don't surf the web anymore, and it's not like I'd like to leave my email address on my website anyway (mainly because a bunch of trolls and degenerates will spam it with furry porn,

| and secondary because ppl will think you're weird if you use something as email in 2026 to communicate instead of whatsapp or twitter.)

| Put a music player with your fav music, put a comment section, put links to your most used websites, make it match your vibe. Make it for you first, others second. Add stories, art, whatever the hell you like gurl.

There's no point, they don't see the inherent cool factor of having one.

| You can use it as a personal portfolio

| something like temporary storage for any files that wipes every week etc

| You can post pro terrorism content

| You can try (and fail) at being funny, like this outsider >>1087406

| You know? I think so, it made me want to make one to try (and fail) like this outsider.

| I own a few domains. A personal website is fun, if you're the right type of person. It's not for everybody. As for usecases, most people make blogs. Personally, I'm currently working on a large programming project, and use one of my domains as the main page for the ptoject, with overview, progress reports, links, etc.

| You can also use a domain to have a cool [email protected] email address, if you want that. It does cost a bit tho.

| I just made a homepage for myself. Has quick links to my most used websites, va11 kinda style, mp3 player with my music. Just make a home page for yourself, the default ones are boring.

| Might I suggest dancing skeletons and some Under Construction signs?

| OP here. Thanks everyone for the advice, and I can definitely see the inherent cool factor of owning one (>>1087364), but I just wanted to hear if anyone had any interesting suggestions for what I could put on it, so it wouldn't feel like 100500 other freepilledfags personal website with their bio and y2k aesthetics.
For now, I’m learning html and css, and I plan to host it on neocities for now, until I'll get a proper VPS and migrate it there.

| Would you all like me to post a link to it here once it’s finished, so I can hear some superexpert opinion from some superduperexpertg/u/rls?

| I might probably post a collection of russian .srt & .ass subtitles for my favorite anime on my website, since they’re pretty hard to find and they’re usually either part of dead torrents, embedded in 100gb .mkv files, or just scattered across dead ~2008 forums, forcing you to participate in web archeology.

| ganbare & ganbatte website-chan!!! go out there and make your voice heard!!!!

This kind of question is self-answering. If you have to ask it - you DONT neef a site, you are too boring for that.

it isn't even the first time op asked this question here so i bet he wont start his lame site this time either

| I think a nice use case would be to make a website about a topic you love

That could be a website archiving all cases about people who try build their own micronations, it could be a website for archiving software related to music-making and digital art

You can make a website to defend something, an idea or a movement that not many people defend or advocate for, etc

| You can make a website documenting your journey of making a website
