I’m listening to music on my phone in the woods right now. I read people are more anxious and distracted just having a phone in the room.

If I were really smart and cared about privacy I could also just enable airplane mode I think. , or you could buy an old phone for that, might be cheaper than a purpose mp3 player ngl.

>>1072806 airplane mode can still be spied on unless you got hardware switches
and old phones are reporting to the same network and are still as vulnerable to triangulation as modern phones
if you're worried about spyware you're gonna have to do your homework and get a phone you can hack and install an oss os on

I use my phone most of the time. I store my music in OPUS unless MP3/M4A or whatever else is the only available option. That being said, which portable music player supports OPUS?
Post number #1072835, ID: 997326

>>1072749 Modern portable digital music players are very small. Most of their mass scales with their battery capacity. Talking about battery: they are way more energy efficient compared to smartphones. Using your smartphone for listen to music drains its battery much faster, which will make you carry another additional device anyways - your powerbank.

>>1072444 I recently bought mine too. it's pretty cheap on the feeling, but overall I like it. the main reason for this is that my headphone port in my phone is too trashed after 5 years, and I refuse to use bluetooth earphones, so I decided to get a separate device.

be nice to each other! Some people like having everything on their phone, others like having a separate device. There are pros and cons to each and it all boils down to personal preference so it is pointless to argue about it, okay? <3

i've been using my PSP as an MP3 player, but i'd like to buy and mod an iPod at some point. the PSP is pretty great, and i like it's ambition to be a multimedia device (games, movies, music). but, it isn't perfect. the battery life isn't quite as good as i'd like it, and i have bugs with .mp3 files that are too long (which i suspect is due to me having a 128GB SD card.) i'd still use the PSP for games and movies though.
(i do like the music visualizers. and SenseMe is amazing)

Back to topic. I had an mp3-player for a couple years until I lost it somewere. What I like a lot compared to a phone was the long batery life and the fact thst you could navigate through your music blindly without looking at the screen once you've learned the menu and folder structure. But I didn't bother to get a new one yet, my phone is still good enough for music and podcasts at the moment.
