Anybody else downgraded to an MP3 player?

| I'm like a month deep into having mine at least and I'm preferring it so much

| Yeah I have an mp3 player... my wife! hah!

| kys.

| I’m listening to music on my phone in the woods right now. I read people are more anxious and distracted just having a phone in the room.

| I have a dedicated ogg/flac player, but it's not really a downgrade to me.

| I use my phone. What else am I gonna do? Carry around a purse with all my devices in it?

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Convenience, deserve neither Liberty nor Convenience." --Abraham Lincolm

| >>1072751
pretentious faggot. using a phone as an mp3 player isn't the same as being anti democracy or whowever you want to spin it. you're not protesting the state by purchasing a bunch of gadgets.

and that's a ben franklin quote about being pro-taxation and pro-defense spending in response to a corrupt family ruling pennsylvania.

| so tell me, do you leave your cell at home or do you carry it with you when you use your mp3 player?

| >>1072756
pretentious faggot. it's not anyone else's fault if you're too stupid to understand the ramifications of being spied on.

| If I were really smart and cared about privacy I could also just enable airplane mode I think.
, or you could buy an old phone for that, might be cheaper than a purpose mp3 player ngl.

| ye having a dedicated music player is nice.

| >>1072759
answer the question. do you leave your cell phone at home when you walk around with your mp3 player or do you take it with you?

also, explain in detail what kind of information is gathered from your phone and how it's being used against you.

| >>1072806
airplane mode can still be spied on unless you got hardware switches

and old phones are reporting to the same network and are still as vulnerable to triangulation as modern phones

if you're worried about spyware you're gonna have to do your homework and get a phone you can hack and install an oss os on

| I use my phone most of the time. I store my music in OPUS unless MP3/M4A or whatever else is the only available option. That being said, which portable music player supports OPUS?

| >>1072749
Modern portable digital music players are very small. Most of their mass scales with their battery capacity. Talking about battery: they are way more energy efficient compared to smartphones.
Using your smartphone for listen to music drains its battery much faster, which will make you carry another additional device anyways - your powerbank.

| >>1072817
i leave it at home faggot
i've been living without it for months, it's been battery-dead
perhaps you need to start looking things up: BULK COLLECTION
ECHELON
PRISM
ETC

| Oh interesting

| >>1072840
You didn't answer the question. Explain in detail why you're so afraid of using a cell phone.

| >>1072444 I recently bought mine too. it's pretty cheap on the feeling, but overall I like it. the main reason for this is that my headphone port in my phone is too trashed after 5 years, and I refuse to use bluetooth earphones, so I decided to get a separate device.

| Nice to have unique stuff to focus on rather than everything consolidated on my phone.

| >>1072942
?

| >Imagine having high quality mp3 players with OPUS support small enough to fit onto your keychain.

Haha, where can I buy those?

| doesn't opus sucks? what's the point of it anyway, you can't convert 160 kbps opus to mp3 using ffmpeg?

| be nice to each other! Some people like having everything on their phone, others like having a separate device. There are pros and cons to each and it all boils down to personal preference so it is pointless to argue about it, okay? <3

| >>1073003
No

| >>1072958 w*stoid capitalists won't sell them to you

Hugs! I love you gurl

| >>1073015
>claims its not sold in the west
>links to a western seller

why are russians so uneducated and desperately stupid?

| >>1073051
Where? Which point exactly does the
>uneducated
and
>desperately stupi
follow from what you quote?

| >>1073051
Russians are really special! Let’s be nice to Russians!

| >>1073051
>germany
>western
next you'll tell me germans are wh*te
fuck off settler-colonialist

| >>1073059
They sure are "special".

| i've been using my PSP as an MP3 player, but i'd like to buy and mod an iPod at some point.
the PSP is pretty great, and i like it's ambition to be a multimedia device (games, movies, music).
but, it isn't perfect. the battery life isn't quite as good as i'd like it, and i have bugs with .mp3 files that are too long (which i suspect is due to me having a 128GB SD card.)
i'd still use the PSP for games and movies though.

(i do like the music visualizers. and SenseMe is amazing)

| >>1073068
Yeah!! I think we should start a charity to give every Russian person a cookie! It should only take like ten million dollars or something right?

| >>1073077 how can it even run a 128gb card? I thought that devices from that era could do 32GB at best

| >>1073078
fuck off with your inane nonsense. you're not funny.

| >>1073059 Thank you uwu

| >>1073085
Kiss hug! Uwu

| >>1073015
I don't see "opus" as a supported format, or did I miss something?

| >>1072829
Search for a DAP that is supported by free alternative firmware "rockbox"
https://www.rockbox.org/
Have fun!

| you spelled roblox wrong

| >>1073145
"roblox" is neither free nor alternative nor a firmware. Please learn context sensitive reading.

| >>1073145 silly gurl!!

| Back to topic. I had an mp3-player for a couple years until I lost it somewere. What I like a lot compared to a phone was the long batery life and the fact thst you could navigate through your music blindly without looking at the screen once you've learned the menu and folder structure. But I didn't bother to get a new one yet, my phone is still good enough for music and podcasts at the moment.

| >>1073350 buy an mp3 player

| >>1073354
now i don't want one anymore

| jk I still want one

| im currently in the train listening to music on my ipod!!

| >>1073383 you're so cool g/u/rl :DDDD Today I'm gonna listen to va-11 hall-a ost on the U-bahn too.

| If I had to downgrade to MP3 player I would go all out with PSP.

| >>1073449 I wish I had one ;(

| >>1073142 I'm interested in this! But I like using itunes... so I guess I can't use rockbox then :O

>>1073449 >>1073451 thats so cool, I want a psp too but they're so expensive... altho I wonder if they're good as an mp3 player, they're kinda bulky... do they have a good dac inside?

| Poorfags. I use my steamdeck as my mp3 player.

| brb ran out of battery

| >>1073510 mens pants be having pockets big enough for a steamdeck

| Men’s pants smell (^ν^)

| >>1073520
reminds me of when the eeepc launched and a guy on /g/ got roasted for carrying his around in his back pocket lol

| >>1073498
>But I like using itunes
Does it not suck anymore? I always loved the iPod hardware back then. But I would never would never have used it if rockbox wasn't around to bypass this nightmarish crapware called "iTunes" at that time (~10 years ago)...

| >>1073642 I use iTunes version 10 on an old mac laptop i keep around for music, not sure how else to connect an ipod (it uses firewire) i think its okay, the interface is simple and its easy to manage your library, edit the tags, etc. Idk about newer versions.
