what do you think about session communicator? Do you like it more than signal or matrix?

its good when it works. Ive had some syncing and sending/receiving issues. Perhaps I should try it again. I like the fact you dont need to pair it with a phone like signal.

I personally just use matrix, the big thing for me I need is screen sharing and matrix can do that. I know tox can too but is pretty janky on there, signal only one person can screen share at a time, although I do admit with matrix you do kinda need to trust whoever the host is a bit, that's its only downside for me.

>>1072251 i use matrix everyday. here's the thing. it's a flawed protocol and whatever you do on it you should assume everyone on the internet has access to it.

>>1072258 >i use matrix everyday so you're either a pedo, a nazi, part of a trans cult, or involved in louis rossman's community (why the fuck is he on matrix) all four perhaps

>>1072258 Matrix is flawed but you're exaggerating a bit. You're still encrypted on a room basis and if you host your own instance it's way better than most other protocols. There's a reason why so many European government agencies use matrix for internal communication.

>>1072263 no, i'm really not. i honestly don't even think it's that much of a problem. chat's being public generally ain't a big deal, aslong as you're aware of it. There's CVE-2024-37303 which BTW a lot of servers never patched because matrix room versioning is a steaming pile of shit. It is trivial to capture the session key to decrypt. same goes for MTM the session, since there's no verfification. 1. fucking search result: https://nebuchadnezzar-megolm.github.io/static/paper.pdf

>>1072263 and >>internal<<, is a big keyword there. because everything is secure if it's internal.

so matrix is shit basically, good to know

>>1072280 i mean like is everything being logged and viewed by someone? probably not. but you really shouldn't use it for anything personal.
i reckon matrix gained traction because it's easy. it's esentially a website in a way.(which attracts collage devs like shit does flies) and a lot of other comms software at the time was very incompleate and still is.
idk i wish ppl gave tox a shot i wonder if it's gotten more usable. tox doesn't hide ip though, so some knowladge is required

>>1072301 tox is mostly good, it really just depends on the client, I think qtox was the one that worked best for me. Toxic is pretty good too if you only care about voice and file sharing. It's just not as clean and stable as matrix is yet and many of the tox clients have stopped being developed. Maybe one day I'll make my own client but until then I probably won't use tox.
