I saw a magazine at Barnes and Nobel about windows for $25 but it didn’t have much interesting in it- but was still attractive and matched the windows aesthetic! I like how windows sports supports gaming!

Royal Noir is the best XP theme! And the best multi-protocol instant messaging client is Miranda (NG)! //Unfortunately, there is no need to wait for the Unix version of the latter.

The best thing about Windows is, that its developers are becoming better at stealing/implementing features that are known in unixoid systems for a long time. The biggest step forward on the Desktop was Win2000, which finally introduced an almost stable kernel with networking capabilities, an almost robust journaling filesystem and almost secure multi-user functionalities. It's impressing, how Bill managed to bind people to DOS (which was also not his work) for over a decade.

I'm looking forward to the day, when Windows becomes nothing more but an overpriced POSIX conform *nix derivate so that brand consciousness users finally can enjoy something a stable, reliable and secure system, that actually "operates". First thing I do on stock/fresh Windows installations: 1 Remove ANY 3rd party "security" software 2.Run Debloat script to remove Windows "Apps", sine most of it is Bloat- and Crapware 3.Install WSL 4.Install superior linux software.

Also to improve the Desktop Experience I recommend to replace the shitty built-in Start-Menu with "open-shell", which is a truly awesome replacement. Highly configurable, propagand/ad-free and resource friendly. OG Windows 11 Start panel grabs from 3 to 5 percent CPU on average desktop hardware, a ridicolous ammount of RAM plus permanent network traffic. (It's written in highly inefficient web-language js/react)

>>1061934>>1061935>>1061937 My issue with anything that isn't Windows is partitioning. I don't understand it. It is a mess when you want to install Linux without guided install. Same thing with mounting drives. Windows is superior and will remain like that as long as Linux isn't fully GUI oriented. The GUI on Linux isn't integrated into the system, it's an addon, almost like early Windows which was a GUI for DOS.
