| BTW that is ugly thing like snap package or any docker.

| You are a stupid motherfucker.

| >>1054481 It's better than snap/flatpak. But I prefer a native package, too.

| >>1054499
Why are you insulting OP?
>>1054503
Hm, maybe you're right about this comparing to snap/flatpack.
Good! Native package is the our choice.. This is the way!.

| God I despise snap and flatpak. I really wish devs would just default to making appimages if they don't wanna mess with native repo management. Genuinely don't understand how snaps and flatpaks have become so popular with how annoying and inconvenient they are. I don't wanna micromanage every app's permissions, and I don't give a single fuck about them being in a container. Proper system security makes containers not really matter all that much.

| >>1054900 that's why Windows is superior

If you do not want to mess up applications from the repository with applications not from it, then install these applications in your own directory under /opt, i.e. (for example, for texlive) /opt/texlive/, by the way, it is better to install texlive like this if you want it as sistem-wide, rather than through the repository. In essence, this is similar to how in windows many applications are installed in own directories under the "program files" directory.

| I’ve done that!! I did that with things sometimes and it was really easy! I just put them there. I think the data was in my home directory though or somewhere like it.

| >>1055060 mhmm! I know how to install software manually, it's just annoying to me when packages don't have a build in the repos. Sometimes ya have to though. I mostly just like stuff being through the package manager because it can be updated, removed, reinstalled, or modified n such easily. I especially like it for pacman, because it can tell me what orphaned packages there are and I can use that as an input for uninstalling them. Very convenient.

| >>1055060 what is this babble

| It’s opt! U can put ur stuff in opt and it’ll work!

| I just double cick .exe and it works.

| >>1055080
Yes! This is the strength of package managers (PM), but there is also a weakness: not all programs are suitable for such management, for example, dwm and much more from suckless.org team. Unless you maintained your own local repository for such programs in order to continue installing them through the PM.

| >>1055080
Pacman is wonderful!
I noticed that the /opt/texlive is place where texlive will be installed from the Void repository (xfps is PM). In fact, the same perl installation script as the developer is running, but with the addition /etc/profile.d/texlive.sh, which specifies the paths to binaries and man). And in Arch, everything is stored in /etc, /usr/bin, etc. In other words, it is embedded into the system as a whole, as other applications usually do.

Be more specific, dear g/u/rl.

Em, what?

False advertisement

Cute~
//I didn't even think about it, but you're right.
Also, about dwm. As far as I've read, programs that allow their windows to become zero-sized will be good enough with this WM.
