I want to learn how to compose some simple songs for games I'm making in some tracker software (Famitracker,Deflemask etc.).
Do you g/u/rls have any simple to understand music theory links to get started or tips on how to avoid stupid mistakes?

Some simple stuff to learn about are different keys and basic chord progressions. Music theory wise. Like what chords make up a key. What's the difference between minor and major keys are. Look into music scales as well. But basically, for people who aren't versed in theory (like me) just tinker around until they find something that sounds right. Best of luck, /g/url!
